FAQ

Is Clavox really free?

Yes. No trial, no time limit, no feature lock and no account. We ask for your email only so we can send the download link.

Do I need an iLok?

No. There’s no iLok, dongle, license key or online activation. Install it and it works offline.

Can I use it on commercial releases?

Yes. Use it on paid client work, released records, film, games, broadcast, anything. You don’t need to credit us, though we’d love to hear what you make.

How many computers can I install it on?

As many as you personally use: studio rig, laptop, backup machine. Just don’t redistribute the download. Send people here instead.

Which formats and systems are supported?

VST3 on Windows 64-bit. A macOS version is in testing and isn’t available yet. See the system requirements on the home page.

What settings give the best results?

Run your session at 44.1 kHz, set oversampling to 4×, and turn up Input until vocal peaks show about 7 dB of gain reduction on the GR meter. Clavox was trained on 44.1 kHz audio and has its lowest latency there, but it still runs accurately at every other sample rate.

Does Clavox add latency?

A little. At 44.1 kHz it adds 38 samples (0.86 ms). At 48 kHz it adds 154 samples (3.2 ms), and at 88.2, 96 and 192 kHz about 3.1 ms. The full table is on the home page.

Is there an AU or AAX version?

Not yet. Clavox is VST3 only for now. Most DAWs on Windows load VST3. Pro Tools needs AAX, so it can’t load Clavox yet.

My download link expired or didn’t arrive.

Links last 7 days. Request a new one from the home page using the same email. Check spam and “Promotions” folders too.

Why can’t I change the ratio or attack?

Clavox captures one specific setting: 4:1 ratio, attack at 3 and the fastest release. Fixing the setting lets the model capture it very accurately. You control drive (Input), level (Output) and parallel blend (Comp Mix).
